Egghead
Origin: Egghead was created in 1993. He was one of the protagonists of the “Rude Dudes” series created the same year which also starred Ditzy and Punk. In that series, Egghead was a super-intelligent, wise-cracking alien from an unnamed planet populated by similar looking “egg people.” His main purpose in “Rude Dudes” was to serve as “the voice of reason” and also to provide guidance and advice to the other protagonists.
In the “Why Bother?” series, Egghead is just a fictional Saturday morning cartoon kids show character. He makes a cameo as a stuffed doll sitting on top of a small shelf in Episode 11.
Personality: Egghead was quick to anger, often getting upset with the other main characters for ignoring him. He was more mature and responsible than the other protagonists so he often did the housekeeping (to his great dismay).
Hobbies: Egghead enjoyed playing card games (particularly Solitaire), playing video games, and reading books on scientific studies.
Appearance: An “egghead” is someone who is considered super-intelligent, but usually socially awkward; therefore, Egghead’s name is a reference to both his character traits and physical appearance. Before “Rude Dudes” was created, there was a brief series both named and starring Ditzy and Punk. Neither Ditzy nor Punk were too bright (though Ditzy was the dumbest of the two) so Egghead was created in order to provide them with intelligence and support. The series was renamed “Rude Dudes” since I felt that “Egghead, Ditzy, and Punk” would be too long. Typical of the “egg people” of Egghead’s home planet, he has arms and feet. He also wears a hat which closely resembles Arthur’s hat from the “Arthur and George in Blexholm” series created in 1992.
